This work is set in the court of Versailles, France, in the 18th Century and depicts the love and eventful life of Jeanne du Barry, also known as "Madame du Barry," the last mistress of Louis XV. Authentic entertainment.

Large-scale filming was carried out at the Palace of Versailles, the actual setting. Chanel provided the costumes explicitly designed for the film, creating a stunning reproduction of the luxurious French court.

Johnny Depp takes on the role of Louis XV, nicknamed "The Beloved King", the most beautiful man and problem child in the history of French kings, in his first full-length French role, and also in "Mont Roi: Their Reasons for Love" (2015), Maiwenn, who is known for directing the film, directed and wrote the screenplay for this film and played the role of the main character, Jeanne du Barry.

When Jeanne finally enters the Palace of Versailles, she meets King Louis XV (Johnny Depp). The two fall in love instantly, and she becomes a ray of hope for the King, who has lost all his vitality to live. Jeanne then became the King's official mistress and mistress. However, for a working-class commoner to become the King's mistress was an unprecedented taboo in the history of Versailles. Furthermore, Jeanne's strict manners and disregard for rules arouse resentment from her conservative aristocrats, but she also brings a new breeze into the court. Johnny Depp, online interview movie "Jeanne du Barry" [Released on February 2, 2024]

1)
I was intrigued and amazed that this French Algerian director was going to offer this guy from Kentucky the role of Louis the 15th, the King of France, so I was pretty intrigued just by the fact that she'd thought of it, and so I met with her,  we talked.

2)
And she was great, we got on excellent, but then I thought. I said to her, maybe you should cast a French actor.

She had thought of French actors, and for some reason, she felt pretty adamant that she had made something of a connection between Louie the 15th and me.

3)
So, for me, on the one hand, I accepted the role because, like anything, it needed a challenge, but it was always a chance to grow or fail one of the others. Still, the idea of Louie the 15th was also fascinating to me.

And then I suppose any monarch, for example,  to be the King, from age 12, at least he had to develop like that.

4)
He had many sides to himself, meaning he would be very different from us when he was in council with his senate, or he would be very different from talking with his children. Still, there was a great deal of formality that he had to live.

Then there were the intimate and the informal moments, mainly with JEANNE DU BARRY, so I think something is fascinating about a king's life that you would believe is this glamorous.

5)
Something is interesting about a king's life that you would think is this glamorous, extraordinary, constant Carnival circus. Excellent, give me everything I want. Still, I don't know that I would take that job. It's a lot of responsibility, and I think he was exhausted by not being allowed to be an average human.

6)
On gaze or using what's behind the eyes and trying to express because the more much more can be said with the sights and with body language, it's straightforward to say the words I love you or whatever it's easy to say the words when they end up in your mouth.

Still, it's what's underneath the words; it's what it's the subtext of, and so I've always found that the words are just the words.

7)
Words are just helpful, like a map, but what's most important is what's happening behind those words. I just always believe that people will smell a lie. The people will see dishonesty. The people will feel dishonesty.

8)
It applies to me; it applies to how I approach my life or how I've lived my life and what I've been able to gather and learn from some fantastic people and then some un-amazing people.

But no matter what you know, and you take those experiences with you, that's, I mean, like going to work with your toolbox, doing a film, especially when the responsibility is to make a film.

9)
Great, because you're playing someone who existed. Why nobody wants to go halfway? I certainly don't want to, so I tried to bring honesty or get the truth I have and apply it to work.

I'm doing so; then it's just what's acting but behaving just naturally and then reacting first as far as Palace of Versailles and having good access to the place, I can tell you walking onto the set.

10)
It's called a set when you're shooting a film there, but otherwise, it's this vast mirrored gallery, and you see 200 extras in period costumes. It was so perfect.

It's like time travel; it was imposing, but the most fantastic thing is as strict yet absurd as the customs were about behaviour in front of the royal monarch, the King.

I had to address him, behave, and walk when they exited, walking backwards in Tiny Steps.

I mean, what I hope people get from when they watch the film and experience ver and the magnitude of that existence and the absurdity of that existence not at all.

Thank you guys, take care, lots of love.

The lavish new historical drama from writer/director Maïwenn ('Mon Rois', 'Polisse'), JEANNE DU BARRY is freely inspired by the life of the titular rags-to-riches social climber, a working-class woman who became the mistress of King Louis XV, played with taciturn command by Johnny Depp in his first French-language speaking role.

18th Century, pre-Revolution France. Jeanne Bécu (Maïwenn), the illegitimate daughter of a monk, has a hunger for culture and pleasure and is determined to escape her commoner upbringing. With charm and sharp wit, she builds a reputation as a skilled courtesan and her benefactor, the Comte du Barry (Melvil Poupaud), grows rich through her romantic encounters. Wishing to present her to the widowed King (Depp), a renowned womaniser, the Comte orchestrates a meeting through the influential Duke of Richelieu (Pierre Richard).

For Jeanne and Louis, it's intoxication at first sight; soon, the King, rediscovering his appetite for life, anoints her as his new favourite. Unapologetically ignoring propriety and etiquette, with the help of his valet La Borde (a scene-stealing Benjamin Lavernhe), Louis moves her into his Versailles palace, sparking both scorn and scandal... and jeopardising relations with the newly-arrived Marie Antoinette (Pauline Pollmann), the Austrian queen-in-waiting...

Finding mordant delight in the intrigues and rituals of high court life, JEANNE DU BARRY is a visual feast – sumptuously filmed in 35mm on location at Versailles and featuring majestic costumes and production design. In tracing a passionate woman, guilty only of trying to rise above her station, Maiwenn delivers an exuberant and sensitive portrait of class, ambition and both the rewards and risks of living in the public eye.
