Takarazuka Revue "Golden Liberty"

"Golden Liberty" is a cliffhanger-style musical action drama by the Moon Troupe, starring the new top duo of An Hozuki and Juri Amashi.
It depicts the encounter between Jesse, a train robber, and Analea, a woman who came to America on a secret mission in the late 19th century. The two gradually become attracted to each other as they face the impending crisis together.

Synopsis:
1)
The story is set in America in the late 19th century. Jesse, who was once a member of the train robbery gang "Wild Bunch," is asked by Lyman to devise a plan to steal gold coins from the treasury carried by a transcontinental railroad.

2)
Jesse, who had quit his job after the gang was destroyed, refused, but he was forced to join the group after they threatened to reveal his true identity. They gathered people and made a careful plan, but the military, who were on board due to a mistake by the train company, noticed them, and an unexpected gunfight ensued.

3)
Jesse still opened the freight car door to steal the gold. However, there was neither a safe nor gold, only a woman clutching an old bag.

4)
As the military mercilessly fired bullets at them, Jesse quickly grabbed the woman's hand and jumped onto a circus train that happened to be passing by, escaping in the nick of time.

5)
The old bag that the woman, Analea, never let go of is a diplomatic pouch used to transport state secrets.

6)
Jesse couldn't rule out the possibility that it was a treasure, so he waited for an opportunity to steal the bag. However, he couldn't be careless with the car full of circus troupes. As he is forced to join her, Jesse soon becomes embroiled in a major national incident.

7)
A train robber and a woman who has come to America on a secret mission meet. As they face an impending crisis together, they gradually become attracted to each other in this cliffhanger-style musical action drama, performed by the Moon Troupe, with the new top duo of An Hozuki and Juri Amashi.

Takarazuka Revue Company - Wikipedia

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AE%9D%E5%A1%9A%E6%AD%8C%E5%8A%87%E5%9B%A3

The Takarazuka Revue Company is an opera company based in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture. It is a division of the major private railway company Hankyu Railways. The Opera Division of the Hankyu Railways Creative Entertainment Business Headquarters operates as part of the entertainment and communications business of the Hankyu Hanshin Toho Group.

Since its first performance in 1914, the popular Takarazuka troupe is made up entirely of unmarried women. Currently, the company is divided into five troupes: Hana (Flower), Tsuki (Moon), Yuki (Snow), Hoshi (Star), and Sora (Space), as well as a special class that does not belong to any troupe.
The show is performed mainly at the Takarazuka Grand Theater in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture, and the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater in Yurakucho, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.

From the beginning, the company aimed to create "a national drama that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or gender" and became famous as Japan's first theatre company to stage a revue. Even now, the company continues to perform plays (musicals) and revues, focusing on healthy performances that people of all ages can enjoy. The genres are diverse, ranging from historical dramas to fantasy and science fiction, regardless of time or place.

The performers are all unmarried women and graduates of the Takarazuka Music School. The members are affectionately known as " Takarasienne ." Rejoining after leaving the troupe is prohibited, and outside actors never appear in the central performances.

Since the performances are always held in large theatres with a capacity of over 2,000 people and the stage is lit, most performers wear glamorous makeup, such as large false eyelashes, thick grease paint, and stints of eyeliner, so that their expressions can be seen even from a distance.

As it is an all-female theatre company, women also play male roles. Male roles are called "Otokoyaku," and female roles are called "Musumeyaku." Based on height, members are given priority in choosing one role or the other while enrolled at the Takarazuka Music School, which is attached to the theatre company, but there is no official rule.

//Postscript//

Japanese women love Takarazuka stars because the female actors portray the ideal man we have in mind. They are tall, handsome, and kind, and they whisper words of love.

Japanese men have never been so perfect before. We have finally found a man who is kind and considerate to women in real life.

Takarazuka stars have also portrayed the ideal woman as beautiful, pure, and independent. Finally, we can live in a society where our opinions and positions are accepted in real life.

The Takarazuka Revue was founded in 1914. Also, a new animated film, "The Rose of Versailles," will be released at the end of this month.
I think that means that we still do not live in a world where it is easy for women to live.

Aren't we women already tired of politics and management run by men?

Oscar, the main character of "The Rose of Versailles," was a woman, but she was the captain of the guard who protected Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France.

But in the end, she switched sides to protect the citizens, took the Bastille, and was killed in battle.
Despite being a woman, she lives as a man, falls in love with a commoner despite their different social status, achieves a brilliant victory and lives out her life.

What do we women need to learn from Oscar today?

My niece has invited me to see this film next month, so I'll probably go to the theatre with her to see it.
