Harry Potter's 3 Children Explained (+How Harry's Son Nearly Brought Back Voldemort)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfnmLJ2j8jU

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're discussing life in the Harry Potter universe after the Battle of Hogwarts and Deathly Hallows—a time after Voldemort's defeat.

Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley's marriage produced three children.

Unlike their parents, most Potter children lived a peaceful, quiet life.

But surprisingly… one of them… an ugly duckling sorted into Slytherin… nearly resurrected Lord Voldemort and destroyed the wizarding world as we know it.

So… Who exactly were Harry's children? And what legacy did they leave behind?

1. James Sirius Potter
Background: James Sirius Potter, the eldest child of Harry and Ginny, was born between the summer of 2003 and the autumn of 2004. His name honours two of the most important people in Harry's life: his paternal grandfather, James Potter, and his godfather, Sirius Black.
Personality and characteristics:
Unlike his younger brother, James didn't seem burdened by his namesake. He grew up in a magical household, surrounded by wizarding culture and knowledge, in stark contrast to Harry's isolated childhood with the Dursleys. Through his parents' influence, James had access to trips to places like Diagon Alley and even spent time with his parents' school friends.

Life at Hogwarts: James received his Hogwarts letter in 2015 and was placed in Gryffindor House. During his time at school, he acquired his father's old Invisibility Cloak and the Marauder's Map, although, unlike Harry, he didn't get involved in any significant adventures or dangerous situations. He was generally well-liked and didn't inherit any of his grandfather's more notorious traits.

2. Albus Severus Potter
Background: Albus Severus Potter, the second son of Harry and Ginny, was born two years after James. His name honours two of the most influential people in Harry's life: Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. However, the name has been a burden for Albus, who has often felt that he can't live up to the legacy of these famous wizards.

Personality and characteristics: Albus struggled with self-doubt, especially about his magical abilities, and felt overshadowed by his father's legacy. Before starting Hogwarts, he expressed his fears to his father, worrying that he might be placed in Slytherin instead of Gryffindor. Harry reassured Albus that the bravest man he knew, Severus Snape, was a Slytherin.

Life at Hogwarts: In 2017, Albus entered Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin, making him the target of bullying from Gryffindor students and even some Slytherins who felt he didn't belong. Despite these challenges, Albus found a close friend in Scorpius Malfoy. Over time, Albus struggled with feelings of inadequacy and eventually rebelled, embarking with Scorpius on a dangerous mission to change the past that almost led to Voldemort's return.

3. Lily Luna Potter
Background: Lily Luna Potter, the youngest child and only daughter of Harry and Ginny, was born two years after Albus, making her four years younger than James. Her name honours two important people in Harry's life: his mother, Lily Potter, and his girlfriend, Luna Lovegood.
Personality and characteristics: Although little is known about Lily's early years, she likely shared many magical experiences with her family, as did her brothers. She seemed interested in the legacy of Hogwarts and was eager to attend the school herself, often discussing her potential House placement with her cousin, Hugo Weasley.
Life at Hogwarts: In 2019, Lily finally joined her siblings at Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor, following in the footsteps of her older brother, James. She embraced her family's legacy and was proud to carry on the Gryffindor tradition.

Due to their heritage, these three children faced unique challenges and expectations, yet they grew into distinct individuals with their own paths in the wizarding world.

[Harry Potter sequel] The easiest-to-understand explanation of the stage play "Cursed Child" in Japan!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqD11s-1pFc

The text explains Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a stage play developed by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. Although sometimes mistaken for the 'eighth book' in the Harry Potter series, it is a collaborative work focusing on a parallel universe concept set 19 years after the end of the original series.

The story picks up after Harry defeats Voldemort and follows the next generation's lives, notably Harry's middle child, Albus Severus Potter.

The play begins as Albus prepares to start his journey at Hogwarts. He quickly realises that living under his father's legendary reputation is challenging.

Albus struggles to fit in despite the weight of his namesake, which derives from two notable Hogwarts headmasters, Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape.

In an unexpected twist, he is sorted into Slytherin, unlike the rest of his family, which makes him feel even more isolated. In addition, Albus lacks his father's natural talent for flying and Quidditch, leading to a growing sense of inadequacy and resentment towards Harry.

Albus' closest ally becomes Scorpius Malfoy, the kind-hearted son of Draco Malfoy. Despite their families' history, the two form a close bond. However, Scorpius also faces rumours and hardship.

Because of his father Draco's past involvement with dark magic, rumours spread that Scorpius may be the son of Voldemort. This further isolates both boys, driving them closer together as they navigate the pressures and prejudices that come with their family names.

The story escalates when Albus overhears a conversation between Harry and Amos Diggory, the father of Cedric Diggory, who died during the Triwizard Tournament in The Goblet of Fire. Amos pleads with Harry to use a newly discovered, limited Time-Turner to go back and prevent Cedric's death.

However, Harry refuses, aware of the dangers of changing the past. Resentful of his father's decision and longing to make a difference, Albus steals the Time-Turner with Scorpius. Together, they plan to change history by saving Cedric, hoping this will finally give them a legacy.

Albus and Scorpius are joined by Delphi, Amos' niece, who encourages them to carry out the plan. As they travel back to different points in time, each attempt to save Cedric leads to unexpected and disastrous changes in the timeline.

Their first attempt leads to an alternate reality where Ron and Hermione never marry, significantly altering their lives and careers. In another attempt, they prevent Cedric's success in the Triwizard Tournament, but this humiliation turns him into a Death Eater.

The consequences ripple through the timeline, leading to a world in which Voldemort triumphs in the Battle of Hogwarts, kills Harry, and takes control of the wizarding world.

In this dystopian alternate reality, Scorpius realises their actions. With the help of Severus Snape (still alive in this timeline), Ron and Hermione reset the timeline to its original form.

However, Albus and Scorpius soon discover Delphi's true identity: she is not simply Amos' niece but the secret daughter of Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange. She is intent on resurrecting her father by changing history. Her ultimate plan is to meet Voldemort and ensure his victory.

The story's climax sees Albus and Scorpius trapped with Delphi in 1981, on the eve of Voldemort's attack on Harry's parents. They manage to send a hidden message to Harry in the present, who travels back in time with Ginny, Hermione, Ron and Draco to stop Delphi

A final confrontation ensues in Godric's Hollow, where Delphi reveals her longing to meet her father and change her destiny. She confronts Harry and the others but is ultimately captured before she can change the course of history.

The play ends with a moment of reflection between Harry and Albus. Harry acknowledges his fears and insecurities as a father, admitting that he sometimes struggles to connect with his son.

Albus, in turn, realizes and tethers the risks he has taken in trying to change the past. Through this emotional reconciliation, Harry and Albus understand each other better and promise to build a stronger, more understanding relationship in the future.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child explores themes of family legacy, friendship and the consequences of living in someone else's shadow.

It resonates with audiences by addressing universal struggles: finding one's identity, coping with family expectations, and the sometimes complicated relationship between parents and children. The play offers a nostalgic yet fresh perspective on the beloved Harry Potter universe, exploring the joys and challenges of carrying a powerful legacy.

The inspiration behind this video:

A Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie will likely happen sometime in the future, but it must fix the stage play's most unforgivable flaw to succeed. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child debuted in 2016, continuing the story from J.K. Rowling's books and Warner Bros.' movie adaptations. The play picks up when Harry and his friends are in their late 30s, and it follows the adventures and struggles of Harry's youngest son, Albus. The Harry Potter play has successfully run in London's West End and on Broadway, though it's received its fair share of criticism from longtime fans.

The Cursed Child makes changes to the original canon that don't make much sense, particularly when it comes to using Time Turners and Voldemort's characterization. These are story problems a Cursed Child movie would need to fix, as fans of the original Harry Potter movies likely notice them. However, there's one even greater flaw that a film adaptation would need to address — and doing so could create bigger problems for the plot.
