"Harmony", not "power", that 99% of people don't know | Morihei Ueshiba | Love | Universe | Aikido
//Summary - Level-B2//
Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba teaches that true strength lies not in power or winning, but in harmony with the universe. Martial arts should not be about defeating others, but about calming the heart, transforming anger into kindness, and living with love. We are all part of nature; when we recognise this connection, fear and conflict fade. Aikido is a path of peace, compassion, and inner balance, helping people become one with the universe. By embracing love over force, we can end conflict and create a world united in respect and care for all life.
We are part of nature, and life itself resonates with the universe.
Those who are truly strong are not those who win battles but those who overcome conflicts and lead everything to harmony.
Here are the secrets of martial arts and the words of the soul left by Morihei Ueshiba, the creator of Aikido. This question goes beyond technique and concerns the way of life itself.
Don't resist or fight; quietly entrust your mind to the harmony of the universe.
This video depicts the spiritual depth of martial arts and a deep respect for life.
Please calm your mind and listen carefully to the universal message, which is particularly relevant in this era.
1)
From the moment of our birth, we are grains of this vast universe and children of the heavens, the earth and the nature that encompasses all things.
The silence of the deep ocean, the boundless expanse of the sky, the rustling green of the forest and our beating hearts all resonate as ripples of one life and exist, embraced by the same source.
However, many people lose sight of this origin, thinking of themselves as separate from the world.
Fear, anger, hatred and conflict are nothing more than the cries of a heart that has forgotten its connection to the universe.
2)
Since childhood, I have held a sword in my hand, trained my body, and devoted myself to martial arts.
I have mastered the sword, perfected softness, trained my fists and honed my skills to the best of my ability. I have faced all kinds of challenges.
However, the more I pursued skills and power, the more a question began to grow in my heart:
Are martial arts just a competition to decide victory or defeat?
Can true peace and tranquillity be found in a world where strength is all that matters?
As I continued to explore this question deeply, I realised:
3)
The essence of martial arts is the ability to transcend the self, calm the mind and achieve harmony with heaven and earth. In other words, true martial arts are the 'way of love'.
They are not techniques for harming others, but rather a means of embracing the anger and fear that arise within oneself and enveloping them in kindness.
Even those not studying martial arts can practise this 'way of love' daily.
For example, if you are pushed on the morning commuter train and feel uncomfortable, acknowledge the anger that rises in your heart and transform it into kindness.
When you encounter a slight misunderstanding at work or home, or see someone's sadness on the street, do not fight or suppress it; continue to show compassion.
4)
This is a fine 'victory' and is undoubtedly 'martial arts'.
The universe does not judge anything.
The sun shines on everyone, and the rain falls on everyone.
Like this unconditional love and merciful rain, we too must learn to do the same.
Purify your heart and live in pure love, free from anger and fear.
This is the ultimate perfection of martial arts and the moment when human sensitivity blossoms.
5)
It means to become one with the universe, quietly purify one's inner conflicts without criticising, blaming, or fearing others, and fulfil the life given to oneself.
We are all children of Heaven, Earth and Nature, and the true enemy lies within ourselves.
Everything moves through the circulation of 'love'.
To give form to this enlightenment, I founded AikAikido.
6)
Aikido is not a technique for destroying enemies; it is a way of transforming the seeds of conflict into the seeds of love, uniting humanity.
Instead of dominating with force, embrace with your heart and transform even hatred into compassion.
This is the true essence of martial arts as demonstrated by Aikido. The secret of Aikido is to recognise the evil within yourself, release it gently, and harmonise with the workings of the universe.
The universe quietly and gently gives life to and nurtures everything.
7)
When we surrender to this great rhythm, every action transcends conflict and becomes a vibration of love and harmony.
One morning, I experienced this profound truth in its entirety.
As I woke up, my body glowed gold and my heart soared like a feather.
The birds' chirping became a melody of 'harmony', the trees' rustling became a poem of 'resonance', and the wind whispered 'one'.
8)
The Creator conceived this universe out of love.
The sounds and breaths of heaven, earth and nature permeated me deeply, sounding like one life.
This experience showed me a new path.
Martial arts are not just about honing your skills and overcoming an opponent.
They are a way to awaken the universe within yourself and unite all beings and hearts.
9)
In Aikido, you let go of the idea of an 'enemy'.
Believing there is an enemy is what separates us from the universe.
If you release that mindset, you will no longer need to face conflict.
Harmony will come simply by ceasing to resist.
10)
For example, if someone expresses anger towards you, rather than repelling them with force, accept the anger completely, embrace it and transform it into a gentle wave of love.
This nullifies the seeds of conflict and eliminates the fight itself.
This is what it means to truly 'win'.
True victory does not lie in making the other person submit but in quietly acknowledging, accepting, and overcoming the anger, fear, and hatred within oneself.
11)
The world in which we live was originally one.
There are essentially no borders, ideologies or religions that separate people.
Everything is merely a diverse expression of one life.
Aikido is the 'hand of love' that embraces this diversity and reweaves it into one.
12)
The moment we awaken to this truth, the world will be transformed.
War will disappear, conflict will quietly dissolve, and a society will emerge where people support, help and love each other.
Those in harmony with heaven, earth and nature have nothing to fear.
There is no need to destroy or dominate.
13)
All we have to do is surrender to the great flow of the universe and fulfil our purpose of giving life to everything.
I learned this way of life through martial arts and entrusted it to the form of 'Aikido'.
That is why I now proclaim it loud and clear.
We are not creatures that fight.
