1)
The work of Hanae Mori

Hanae Mori founded her studio in 1951 and has worked as a designer for 70 years. During the heyday of Japanese films in the 1950s, she was responsible for hundreds of costumes. After working in the United States following her first overseas exhibition in New York in 1965, she opened her house on the Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1977. As the only Asian Paris Haute Couture Union member, she has been active worldwide.

She has presented new haute couture creations in Paris every season for 27 years and has been invited by many countries to show her work. She has also been described as an "ambassador of beauty."

2)
Her works, created with sophisticated designs, colours and unique materials while casually and skilfully incorporating the nuances of the times, have been loved worldwide.

Her haute couture dresses adorn women with brilliance and are said to make her "confident in any situation". Elegance with dignity gives confidence to the wearer.
Hanae Mori was a pioneer for working women, and her daywear designs, including suits, became popular as work wear. They were dashing and easy to move in.

Her jackets, which she called "women's Seviro", were a friend to women during working hours. As work styles have become more diverse, men no longer only wear a Seviro, and women's work styles have become freer. Among them, Hanae Mori has always proposed "stylish" clothes. And comfort. Hanae Mori's message is: "I want you always to walk beautifully".

3)
And then there are the accessories of everyday life. We have suggested a variety of fun and valuable items: light, compact, commonplace umbrellas, bags with pockets, handkerchiefs, and fan sets for the summer. Functional and stylish accessories have made our lives more enjoyable. The butterfly, our symbol, has been flying worldwide for many years in various forms, from scarves to perfume bottles.

He has also designed uniforms for companies such as JAL stewardesses and banks and school uniforms for junior and senior high school students. He created the official uniform for the Japanese Olympic team at the Barcelona Olympics, which conveyed a clean image of the Japanese people.

In 1993, he designed the robe Décolleté for Empress Masako at the wedding of the then Crown Prince, and is known for her radiant smile.

In addition to everyday clothes, he has also worked on many costumes for films and stage performances. In the 1950s and early 1960s, he was responsible for the costumes of many films. Under the direction of master directors, he worked to bring out the charm of young actors such as the duo Ishihara Yujiro and Yoshinaga Sayuri, Iwashita Shima, and Asaoka Ruriko and to express their characters. It was an era when movies led the trends in the city.

4)
On stage, he is best known for his costumes for Misora Hibari's Tokyo Dome concert.

On the world stage, she has worked on many productions, including the opera "Madame Butterfly" at La Scala in Milan, the ballet "Cinderella" at the Paris Opera, and the costumes for the Shiki Theatre Company's "Rokumeikan" in Japan. She has created a unique beauty by combining traditional Japanese stage costumes such as Noh and Kabuki with haute couture craftsmanship and Western sensibilities.

These activities have been recognised, and she has received numerous awards at home and abroad, including the Order of Culture in 1996, the first in the fashion industry. In 2002, the French government awarded her the Legion of Honour.

Times are changing dramatically. Our lives and work are being rethought, regardless of country, race, age or gender.
Lifestyles are becoming more diverse and so are the ways we dress. Creativity with your outfits and combinations allows you to be yourself on and off the job. Hanae Mori values a comfortable and clean feeling in various situations where you can enjoy yourself freely.
