More than 1,000 dead: Clashes between security forces and militants in Syria

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srMMYQpAviQ

Clashes between the security forces of the interim government and armed groups supporting the former Assad regime have been continuing since the 6th in northwestern Syria, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on the 8th that more than 1,000 people, including more than 700 civilians, have been killed so far.

To the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is based in the UK, clashes have occurred between the security forces of the Syrian interim government and armed groups supporting the former Assad regime, which collapsed last December, in areas around Latakia in northwestern Syria, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,000 people in total. Of these, 745 civilians, including women and children, are said to be dead. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights points out that "collective retaliation may have been carried out," as many Alawites, who were central to the former Assad regime, live in the area around Latakia. Many sects and ethnic groups live in Syria, and the interim government has sought reconciliation by clearly stating its consideration for all sects, but this clash has highlighted the instability of the domestic situation.
