[World premiere] Paris Opera's "Swan Lake" to be screened in IMAX for seven days only from 8 November, with a trailer also unveiled

The latest performance (June 2024) of "Swan Lake", the most famous classical ballet masterpiece choreographed by world-famous superstar Rudolf Nureyev, the most popular in the repertoire of the Paris Opera Ballet, a ballet house with over 350 years of history, will be released worldwide as a "Filmed for IMAX" work.
In Japan, Toho Towa Distribution will release it nationwide for seven days only from 8 November. This will be the first time in the world that a ballet will be released as a "Filmed for IMAX" work shot with an IMAX-certified camera.

"Swan Lake is the most famous classical ballet. During the recent Olympic Games in Paris, the torch relay was carried by two étoiles.
At the same time, the Paris Opera Ballet dancers performed Swan Lake on the Place de la Bastille, becoming a symbol of the ballet company. When the Paris Opera Ballet came to Japan in February this year, tickets for "Swan Lake" sold out instantly.

The most significant feature of Rudolf Nureyev's version of "Swan Lake" at the Paris Opera is that it sheds light on the prince's innermost psychology and that Wolfgang, Prince Siegfried's tutor, is the devil Rothbart.
Wolfgang controls the prince and leads him to ruin, but their relationship is also a special bond, close to love.

Rothbart is a more stylish and essential character than in the usual Swan Lake. In the third act, Odile, the Prince, and Rothbart perform a pas de trois, with a solo for Rothbart, emphasising the love triangle.
In the first act, the male dancers perform a group dance, and the dynamic dancing of the male dancers is also shown.

The Swan Corps de Ballet is a complicated dance choreographed by Nureyev, a star dancer with advanced techniques. It requires delicate footwork and a "pa" assigned to each note.
You will enjoy the elaborate group dance that sparkles like a jewel, which can only be realised by the Paris Opera, which boasts the highest level in the world. Another highlight is the magnificent and sophisticated set design.

Korean-born Park Se-woong, who plays Odette the Swan and Odile the Black Swan, is the first Asian étoile at the Paris Opera.
She is the ideal Odette, combining delicate lyricism, which she easily expresses through her slender body, with solid technique and drama, allowing her to perform the 32 Grand Fouettes perfectly.
Paul Marc, who plays Prince Siegfried, was appointed Etoile in December 2020 for his performance as the bronze idol in La Bayadère, broadcasted without an audience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He has the best technique of any of the opera's current étoiles, with astonishingly high jumps, beautiful toes and the elegance unique to opera.

During the Paris Opera Ballet's visit to Japan this year, the two gave a supreme performance that delighted even the most demanding Japanese ballet fans with their splendid partnership.
Premier Danseur Pablo Regasa plays Rothbart, the devil. She also appeared in the documentary "Future Etoiles: A Year at the Paris Opera School" and Uniqlo ads. With her attractive black curly hair and excellent theatricality, she is a dancer who stands out as a leading candidate for the Etoile.

Many Japanese and Japanese-born dancers are also currently working at the Paris Opera Ballet, and this production features Elisabeth Pattington Masako and Kuwahara Saki as Coryphées, Yamamoto Koharu, and Alicia Hidinga as Quadrille.
The teaser trailer has also been released. The beautiful scenes are captured with dynamic camerawork, creating a realistic image.
