For the first time in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic, a woman will be conducting a regular concert. - 2024/05/11

1)
In May of next year(2025), a woman will conduct the Vienna Philharmonic's regular concert for the first time.

In the 182-year history of the Vienna Philharmonic, which began its activities in 1842, there have certainly been female conductors who have conducted the orchestra.

2)
Still, there has never been a single female conductor at a regular concert, which is the most critical concert for an orchestra and is the most important "face" and "pride" of the orchestra.

There have been many soloists, though. In other words, this is a decisive moment, a breakthrough. It may not be suitable to start with the form, but it has a different weight.

3)
Some have pointed out that Simone Young, Emmanuel Aim, and Joana Marwitz conducted it.

However, Simone Young performed a concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Aim conducted concerts at the Theater an der Wien in Lucerne, and Marwitz conducted an opera at the Salzburg Festival, which was not a regular concert.

4)
The time is ripe. I think that's the word that applies. It's wonderful. Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. Born in Lithuania, she is currently 37 years old. She will be 38 next May.

She studied in Graz, has a home in Salzburg, and served as music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. She is the first female conductor to sign a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.

5)
In terms of both his career and ability, he is impeccable.

The set includes the title of the first female conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic's regular concerts and her appearance at the New Year's Concert (it is rumoured that it takes more than ten years of association with the Vienna Philharmonic to be able to conduct the New Year's Concert)!!

Go, Mirga, on your golden wings.

Ranking of female conductors in the world - 2021-09-23

https://ameblo.jp/geezenstac/entry-12699562615.html

A while ago, there was an article on the Internet titled "Ranking of the World's Female Conductors." Well, with the world calling for gender equality, if you look around, you'll notice that women have made incredible advances in orchestras around the world, and apart from top-class orchestras, I think the female ratio in almost all orchestras has reached about 50%. The same is true in amateur orchestras, where there are probably somewhere it reaches 60-70%. Among them, it is undeniable that men still dominate conductors. Still, looking around the world, it seems that the weight of female conductors is gradually increasing.

The selection criteria for the article titled "Ranking of the World's Best Female Conductors" were as follows:
1. Be currently or have experience as a music director or principal conductor of a prestigious orchestra
2. Hold a position in a prestigious orchestra
3. He has had many experiences conducting prestigious orchestras.
4. They have released quality CDs on a major label

So the ranking was as follows:
10: Tomomi Nishimoto.
9: Barbara Hannigan
8: Alondra de la Parra
7: Kelly Lynn Wilson
6: Susanna Mälkki
5: Joan Falletta
4: Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla
3: Marin Alsop
2: Karina Canellakis
1: Simone Young

Well, Tomomi Nishimoto, ranked 10th, is probably the best in the current Japanese situation. However, although her CD releases have recently included recordings with the Royal Philharmonic, I am concerned that they are mainly Russian orchestras.
