"It symbolizes Japan!" Hats off to the fantastic 30 people with 31 legs
This time, we look at overseas reactions to Japan's unique team sport.
The competition, broadcast on TV Asahi until 2009, consists of 30 primary school students competing in 31 legs of a 50-metre race in which 30 or more people compete for the best time by running the same way as in the two-person tripod race.
According to government statistics, the Guinness record is 8.80 seconds, set by an elementary school in Ehime Prefecture.
The average 50-metre sprint for 6th-grade boys is 8.88 seconds, so you can see that this is an incredible record, even faster than that.
The video contains footage of the competition that appears to be from the qualifying round.
I don't think they broke any records, but it was still an excellent, well-coordinated run.
The fantastic unity shown by the Japanese primary school students drew mixed reactions from overseas as follows:
